One of the men standing trial in connection with the murder of Ipswich father-of five Dean Stansby referred to himself as ‘killa’, a court has heard.
Yesterday, witness Lucy Elliston, a former friend of defendant Tecwyn Parker, took to the stand at Ipswich Crown Court.
The court was played a recording of Miss Elliston and Parker chatting as they walked through Ipswich, recorded on Miss Elliston’s phone.
In the video, Miss Elliston said she had seen a picture of Parker in relation to the police appeal.
She can be heard saying: “I can tell it’s you, and Ruby on the corner, yeah?”, to which Parker replied “Yeah”.
Later in the conversation Elliston says “no one will mess with me now” and “especially not next to...”
To this Parker replies “Yeah, Killer”.
Miss Elliston goes on to say: “because the worst thing is, in the picture you’re like this, putting your hood up, that is your mannerism.”
She goes on to say Parker was also pictured wearing a jumper she used to wear.
The court also heard about a letter sent from Parker to Elliston while he was in Norwich Prison.
In the letter, Parker had signed off with “The one and only Killa, lol.”
The prosecution claims further text messages sent to Miss Elliston from the phone of a ‘Dave W’ were actually sent by Parker.
One message said: “Got all the way out there to Mart Pol (Martlesham Police) Station for them to rebail me until 12th of May.
“Back in Ippy now, speak later.
“Love you long time, Killa lol.”
The court was told a message sent on April 18, from ‘Dave W’s phone, said: “OK, I did call off Dave’s phone. From Tec.”
Before the court are Tecwyn Parker, 48, formerly of Downside Close, Ipswich, Jason Ruby, 45, of Risby Close, Ipswich, Daniel Kaganda, 24, of London and Amiadul Islam, 25, of London.
All four have denied murdering Mr Stansby on Wednesday, February 8 last year.
Ruby has also denied conspiracy to supply heroin and crack cocaine between November 10 and July 6, 2017.
It is alleged by the prosecution that Mr Stansby was stabbed in Ancaster Road, Ipswich, to “teach him a lesson” for trying to rob Parker of drugs.
The trial continues.
