A MAN suffering from chest pains and sea sickness was airlifted to hospital from a charter boat.

An emergency call was made from the Lady Essex at 12.38pm yesterday after it left Essex Marina in Wallasea.

The rescue helicopter from RAF Wattisham and the Burnham RNLI lifeboat were sent to the boat and the ill man was taken first onto the lifeboat and then winched into the helicopter.

The 61-year-old was taken to Colchester General Hospital. His condition was not believed to be serious.
