Suffolk police, Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service and the East of England Ambulance Service all attended the incident, which took place around 10.35am in Clermont Avenue in the town.

Two patients – a man and a woman – were trapped in a Vauxhall Agila which crashed into a detached house in the road.

Firefighters used specialist cutting equipment to free the patients by 11.44am and both have now been taken to West Suffolk Hospital for further treatment.

Their injuries are not life threatening or life changing.

The woman suffered neck injuries while the man had chest pains as a result of the incident.

A spokeswoman for Suffolk police said the Vauxhall was the only car involved in the crash and was reported to have clipped the side of one house before hitting another.

A structural engineer is also at the scene to assess the damage.
