A teenager was reportedly thrown against a wall and knocked unconscious in Ipswich town centre.

Police arrested a 19-year-old man from the Ipswich area at the scene on suspicion of GBH and he was taken to martlesham investigation centre to be questioned.

An ambulance crew was sent to Westgate Street outside Debenhams at around 12.30pm to reports that an 18-year-old man had been thrown against a wall and was unconscious.

A spokesman from the East of England Ambulance Service said the victim, who is also from the Ipswich area, had regained consciousness but was taken to Ipswich Hospital for further treatment.

The victim was not in a life-threatening condition, the spokesman added.
