A man from Braintree has been arrested following a crash in the town yesterday which left a moped rider in a serious condition in hospital.
The 27-year-old was detained on suspicion of drink driving and causing serious injury by careless driving after the incident on the A120 near Galleys Corner which happened at 1.30pm.
It involved a black moped and a white Ford Transit van. The male rider of the moped was taken to Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge where he is said to be in a serious condition.
The man has been released on police bail pending further enquiries until October 5.
Any witnesses to the collision are asked to contact Pc Matthew Turner at Chelmsford road policing unit on 101.
