A MAN is being questioned by police tonight after he was arrested by armed officers in Ipswich.

The man was arrested as he came out of the Station Hotel public house opposite Ipswich railway station earlier this evening.
The drama unfolded shortly at 7pm after police received reports of a man being seen with a gun outside Ipswich railway station. He is later believed to have entered the pub.
Armed police officers, a dog unit and the Suffolk police helicopter were deployed in response to the incident.
The man was later detained as he left the Station Hotel pub by armed officers at the scene.
A Suffolk police spokesman said a man had been arrested for criminal damage and was being questioned at Ipswich police station.

The spokesman said no shots were fired and no one was hurt during the incident.
