A man aged in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving under the influence of drink and drugs after crashing into a pub wall in Sudbury.

Suffolk Constabulary said the collision happened after a Ford Focus failed to stop for police in Cats Lane just after midnight on Sunday, January 20.

Officers followed the car for a short time before it crashed into a wall of the Maldon Grey pub on the same road.

The driver got out of the vehicle but was detained and arrested on suspicion of offences including failing to stop for police, dangerous driving, drink driving, driving under the influence of drugs and possession of class A drugs.

The 32-year-old man has since been released under police investigation pending further enquiries.

Anyone with information or dash-cam footage that could assist officers in their investigation is asked to call Suffolk police on 101.
