27-year-old man arrested on suspicion of rape in Clacton

A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of rape after a woman was attacked in Burstall Close, Clacton.

The offence is alleged to have taken place at around 4.30am on Tuesday, January 9.

Officers arrested the man from Clacton at around 10.35pm on Friday, January 12, and he was released on bail until Friday, February 9, pending further enquiries.

Police received reports that a woman, aged in her 30s, was attacked by a man who approached her and asked her for directions.

Following extensive enquiries specialist officers, who continue to support the victim, are now investigating the attack as rape.
