The incident happened on Wednesday at around 1pm on Windermere Road in the east of the town.
Police spent two hours responding to a man with a screwdriver who had locked himself in a room.
A spokesperson for Suffolk police said: “Police were called to an address in Windermere Road, Sudbury, at around 1pm yesterday to reports of a disturbance.
“On attending, officers received threats from a man armed with a screwdriver who subsequently locked himself in a room at the property.
“No one was injured in the incident.”
They also confirmed that the Police Support Unit had been called to the scene.
Lauren Felix of Windermere Road, Sudbury was charged with assaulting a police officer and will appear at Ipswich Magistrates on Monday July 2.
