Man charged with GBH and assaulting a police officer following incident in Braintree

A man has been charged with grievous bodily harm and assaulting a police officer after a European arrest warrant was executed.
Martin McCarthy, 33, of Coggeshall Road, Stisted, has been remanded to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court today after he was arrested in Dublin and brought back to the UK around 6.20pm yesterday.
On Saturday, September 9, 2017, a man suffered a neck injury during an assault in Market Place, Braintree.
Police attended and an officer reported that a man lunged towards him during his arrest.
