A 37-year-old man was today charged with the murder of a woman in Ipswich.
The victim, who is believed to be Malgorzata Lipinska, was found dead on Friday in the communal stairway of a block of flats in Duke Street.
A post-mortem examination found that the 38-year-old, also known as Gosia, of Duke Street, had suffered multiple injuries.
Mariusz Lipinski, of no fixed address, was this evening charged with murder after being arrested at around 5.30pm on Friday.
He has been remanded in custody at Ipswich police station and is due to appear before magistrates in the town tomorrow.
