Police have revealed the name of the alleged murder victim who died in Lawford on Friday.

John Comer, 46, from Clacton died after suffering stab wounds to the chest and stomach.

A post-mortem examination has ruled that his cause of death was the stab wound to the heart, police revealed today, Monday, December 4.

Patrick Chandler, 44, of no fixed abode, appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court today charged with murder and possession of an offensive weapon.

No pleas were entered and Mr Chandler has been remanded in custody.

He will appear at Chelmsford Crown Court tomorrow.

A 40-year-old man from Manningtree and a 31-year-old woman from Lawford, arrested on Friday, have been released by police and will face no further action. Police were called to an address in Barker Close just after 5am on Friday, December 1.

A man was treated for stab wounds at the scene and was rushed to hospital but later died.
