A man has denied causing the death of 72-year-old Suffolk cyclist by careless driving.

DHL delivery driver Mark Tuffs, of Alibon Road, Dagenham, is also charged with failing to report and failing to stop after an accident which led to the death of Colin Taylor on the B1115 at Luckeys Corner, Hitcham, near Bildeston.

South East Suffolk Magistrates’ Court in Ipswich heard the tragedy occurred on November 29 last year.

Mr Taylor, of Hitcham, died at the scene after allegedly being struck by a white DAF LF rigid lorry early in the afternoon.

The retired council worker was cycling along Finborough Road in Hitcham when his bicycle and the lorry were said to have been in collision.

District Judge Celia Dawson told Tuffs, 51, his case would be sent to Ipswich Crown Court where his next appearance will be on August 21.

He was released on bail at the end of the hearing.
