Following his arrest Paul Shelley told police that he and the alleged victim had discussed having sex while they were lying on his bed and she had removed her clothes, Ipswich Crown Court heard.

He told officers he had locked the front door because he didn’t want anyone to walk in while they were having sex.

Shelley, 35, of Field Way, Debenham, has denied rape and false imprisonment.

It has been alleged that Shelley became angry while the woman was at his house and locked the front and back doors when she decided to leave.

The alleged victim was crying and Shelley told her she couldn’t leave until she had sex with him, said Jane Oldfield, prosecuting.

She refused and had tried to climb out of a window to get away but was allegedly pulled back in by Shelley.

He had then allegedly kissed her and undressed her and started having sex with her.

The trial continues.
