AN elderly man died at the wheel of his car before it collided with a house, a post-mortem has confirmed.

Denis Durno, 71, of Beechfields, in Brandon, was found dead on Monday after his car left the road in which he lived and hit a property.

A post-mortem examination confirmed the pensioner died of natural causes before the collision took place.

Residents of the quiet Suffolk cul-de-sac were left shocked after the accident at 4.30pm on Monday.

It was thought he was picking up an elderly woman to take her to the hospital when the accident happened.

Police then cordoned off the road for about two hours while fire crews also attended the scene.

At the time of the accident police said there was a serious possibility that the man might have had a heart attack at the wheel.
