A YOUNG thief who left an Ipswich restaurant with a group of friends without paying has been landed with the £120 bill.

Benjamin Clarkson, 19, went to Franky and Benny's restaurant in Cardinal Park with eight friends on April 20, South East Suffolk Magistrate's Court heard.

Emma Lister prosecuting said the group ordered food and drink but when the waitress returned to the table at 8.30pm the group had gone.

Clarkson who was recognised by a witness pleaded guilty to making off without payment.

Clarkson, of Spring Road, Ipswich, said he could not remember who he was with.

The traffic management worker who lives with his mother was told to pay £120 compensation and £60 towards court costs.

He was conditionally discharged from the court for six months.
