Two vehicles were involved in a crash in an Essex village last night which left one man trapped in his car.

The incident took place in Peldon, near Colchester, just before 7pm and two fire crews from West Mersea and Colchester attended as well as the air ambulance.

On arrival at the incident in Colchester Road, firefighters reported that one man was trapped in his car and they were able to free him by 8pm.

He was left in the care of the East of England Ambulance Service.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: “We were called yesterday at 7.06pm to reports of an road traffic collision on Colchester Road, Peldon.

“An ambulance crew, an ambulance officer, a rapid response vehicle, and an air ambulance from Essex and Herts Air Ambulance (EHAAT) were dispatched to help.

“Two patients were assessed and treated at the scene for potential neck injuries.

“Both patients were taken to Colchester General Hospital for further treatment.”
