A Colchester man accused of pulling out a knife after a pub doorman asked him to leave the premises has been convicted by a jury.
Before Ipswich Crown Court was Paul Russell, 51, of Military Road, Colchester, who denied having a lock-knife in a public place and common assault on Christopher Mallett, a doorman at the Brewers Arms in Colchester, in October 2016.
He was convicted of both offences and will be sentenced today (Wednesday).
The court heard that Mr Mallett approached Russell and a woman, who had both been drinking, and asked them to leave the pub.
Mr Mallett said the woman said they would leave when they were ready and as he escorted her to the door she had put her head back and struck his chin.
He turned round and saw Russell standing three feet away from him holding a knife.
Russell, who was disarmed and restrained until police arrived, denied threatening Mr Mallett with the knife and said it had been in his pocket because he used it for work.
