SUFFOLK police have today arrested a man on suspicion of rape and abduction following an incident in Brandon on Saturday, June 14.
The man, aged 58 and from Norwich, is currently in custody at Bury St Edmunds police station and will be questioned by detectives this afternoon, the force said.
Detectives launched a massive police hunt after a woman reported being kidnapped from a supermarket car park in the town.
The 21-year-old woman was in the Tesco car park when she was called over by a man asking for help with heavy bags.
She helped him load a blue holdall into a 4x4 but he then pulled a knife on her, pushed her inside and ordered her to lie down.
She told officers he drove her to a remote location about 20 minutes away, where he raped her.
She was dropped off again in Wimbledon Avenue, Brandon, later that afternoon.
