A man has been taken to hospital with a leg injury after a crash in Colchester.

Several emergency service vehicles including police cars and ambulances were sent to the town’s High Street shortly after 6pm today following reports of a crash involving a moped.

A rapid response vehicle and an ambulance crew were sent to help a man who suffered a leg injury in the crash.

The road was shut while investigators worked at the scene and recovery was arranged.

It is not known if any other vehicles were involved or if anyone else was hurt in the crash.

Essex Police have been contacted for comment.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance service said: “We were called at just after 6pm today to High Street, Colchester, to a report of a collision involving a moped.

“A rapid response vehicle and ambulance crew were dispatched. They treated a man who had a leg injury.

“He was taken to Colchester General Hospital for further care.”

The spokesman added: “His condition is not believed to be life-threatening.”
