THE partner of a woman killed at a level crossing in Colchester has been charged with her manslaughter.

Kelly Mack, 29, of Clacton died after being struck by a train at Hythe Gate just before 8pm last Thursday.

Darren Palmer, father of her two children, appeared at Colchester Magistrates' Court this morning charged with manslaughter.

Palmer of Mendlesham Close, Clacton, did not enter a plea and the case has been adjourned to Chelmsford Crown Court in June.

The 38-year-old was remanded in custody following a 20-minute hearing when magistrates rejected a bail application from Palmer's solicitor, Trevor Linn.
