A man aged in his 70s went into cardiac arrest in his vehicle at a waste recycling centre in Colchester.
Police attended the centre in Shrub End Road just after 12.30pm yesterday following reports that a man had been taken ill.
An ambulance and an officer were sent to the scene and crews performed life support before taking him to Colchester General Hospital in a “critical condition”.
An ambulance spokesman said: “At this stage the outcome is unknown.”
