A 47-year-old man suffered temporary sight problems after an unknown substance was sprayed in his face during an attempted break-in in Harwich.
The incident happened in a home in Main Road, just before 1.50am on Saturday, when two men attempted to force entry into the property.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Dc Dan Macey at Clacton Police Station on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
