The air ambulance was called to the scene of a two-vehicle crash in Bures close to the Suffolk/Essex border this afternoon.

All three emergency services were called to the scene of the accident, which happened at around 12.30pm.

A man in his 50s, who was trapped in one of the vehicles involved, was taken to Colchester General Hospital by ambulance after reporting pain in his upper leg.

He was conscious and breathing and his injuries were not thought to be life threatening or serious.

Two ambulance crews, an ambulance officer and the Essex Air Ambulance attended.

A woman was also assessed at the scene with minor injuries, but did not require treatment or transport to hospital.

Suffolk police were at the scene to divert traffic, as the accident has partially blocked the road close to the junction with Hollow Road.

The accident involved a Skoda Octavia and a Peugeot 308.

Both vehicles have now been recovered by police and the road has been reopened.
