A 28-year-old man is in a serious condition in hospital after being found with a head injury in Lowestoft.

The man was found collapsed in a car park outside Kwik Fit in Hamilton Road by a member of the public.

He was taken to the James Paget Hospital at 1am today and has since been transferred to Addenbrookes in Cambridge.

A cordon has been put up at the scene and Detective Inspector Adrian Benford said: “We are in the early stages of an investigation and are keeping an open mind as to how the man received this significant head injury.

“As a matter of priority, we will be looking to establish whether the man has been the victim of crime or the subject of an accident, with no third party involvement.

“As such, we are appealing for help from the public and would ask anyone who saw anything suspicious in the Hamilton Road/Whapload Road/Battery Green Road area of Lowestoft between 10pm on Saturday night and 1am this morning to get in touch with police.”

Anyone with information should contact Suffolk Police on 101.
