Driver suffers severe leg burns after car leaves road and catches fire

One person has been taken to hospital after their car was involved in a collision on the A134 near Cockfield this afternoon.

Three vehicles - a van and two cars - were involved in the collision at the A134’s junction with the A1141 near Cockfield.

A spokesperson for Suffolk police said they were called at around 3.05pm this afternoon to the collision.

One of the vehicles is understood to have gone into a ditch adjacent to the field currently on fire in Cockfield.

The vehicle itself is then thought to have caught fire from the neighbouring blaze.

The driver has been take to hospital.

A spokesperson for Suffolk Fire and Rescue said: “Crew members assisted one casualty suffering from severe leg burns and another casualty with neck pain whilst waiting for the Ambulance Service.”

The road is currently closed while the vehicles await recovery. Police remain on the scene.
