POLICE in Essex are appealing for help from the public following a collision last night which left a man in hospital.
The accident happened at about 8.30pm on the A1124 Colchester Road in the village of Chappel and police are keen to trace the driver of a vehicle involved that left the scene.
A 64-year-old man from Colchester was walking along the road when he appears to have been struck by some copper piping being carried in a trailer behind the vehicle.
A police spokesman said the man received serious injuries and was taken to hospital by ambulance where he is in a stable condition.
