Man injured in fight outside Derby Road Practice in Ipswich in critical condition

A man injured in a fight outside an Ipswich GP surgery is currently in a critical but stable condition after being rushed to hospital last night.
Officers were called to Derby Road Practice just before 5.40pm yesterday to reports of a fight.
A doctor from the practice tended to the injured 24-year-old from Ipswich, who was subsequently take to Ipswich Hospital.
He is currently in a critical but stable condition but his injuries are now believed to be non life-threatening.
Officers arrested a 34-year-old man from Ipswich on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and took him to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre. He is still in custody being questioned by officers.
A spokesman for the Derby Road Practice said: “We are aware of an incident that took place in the entrance to the car park of the Derby Road practice yesterday early evening.
“A doctor gave first aid treatment to the injured man whilst waiting for the ambulance.
“We have being assisting police with their enquiries and the surgery is open again as normal this morning.”
Neighbours to the surgery reported seeing a person lying on the floor with someone else standing over them.
One man who lives nearby said: “I heard a bit of a commotion around 5.30pm.
“I was putting the rubbish out and there seemed to be a load of youths arguing but I didn’t see anyone.
“I heard a bit of shouting, I thought it was youths. They often go over the garages and gather, like Gary Boys.”
A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said they were called to the scene at 5.42pm yesterday evening. “We sent an ambulance crew and ambulance officer to the scene and treated a man who had suffered a head injury,” he said “He was taken to Ipswich Hospital for further treatment. “The ambulance was on the scene outside the surgery in under seven minutes and a GP was with the patient when it arrived.”
