A Dagenham man has been charged with three offences after a crash which killed 95-year-old Charles Mayes.

Darren Kettley, 48, was driving a Volvo tipper truck which collided with a Suzuki Swift car on Frinton Road, Kirby Cross, on December 12 last year.

Mr Mayes, from Kirby Cross, died at the scene.

Kettley has now been carged with drink-driving, failing to stop, and failing to keep driver’s records, by Essex Police.

He has been released on police bail to appear at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on June 23 to face the three charges.
