AMBULANCE crews treated a man at the side of the busy A12 after he jumped from a moving car.

Police said the incident happened at Capel St Mary about 4pm on Saturday.

A spokesman said emergency crews attended the incident on the Colchester-bound carriageway after receiving a phone call from a passing motorist going in the opposite direction.

The driver told police there had been a crash but when officers arrived it was found a man had got out of a vehicle while it was moving.

β€œHe suffered only minor cuts and bruises and was very lucky,” said the police spokesman.

After receiving some treatment on the road verge, the man was taken to Colchester Hospital by ambulance for further checks.
