A MAN who was locked out of his home needed a fire crew to rescue him after getting his hand stuck in a letterbox attempting to find a way into his premises.
The bizarre incident took place at about 5am yesterday opposite the Club Brazilia nightclub in Bury St Edmunds.
It is believed the man, who has not been named, got his hand stuck at the entrance of a block of flats in Station Hill as he attempted to enter the building.
A crew from Bury were called to the scene and the man's hand was released - after it had been stuck for about half an hour.
A spokesman for Suffolk Fire Service said: "We were called to a man who had locked himself out of the flats and attempted to gain access through the letterbox. Unfortunately, he got his hand stuck. One crew from Bury attended and the person was released."
The trapped man was not thought to be injured in the incident.
