A man rushed to hospital in a life-threatening condition is now in a serious but stable condition.

Main Road in Broomfield was closed for several hours yesterday after the smash between a Peugeot 206 and a Jaguar X-type.

The Peugeot driver, a Chelmsford man aged 60, was taken to the Royal London Hospital.

Essex Police say his condition has since improved.

Any witnesses to the crash are asked to contact PC Bob Colbert at the Chelmsford Road Policing Unit on 101.
