Police had to talk a man down from the edge of the Orwell Bridge after he was spotted by a passing motorist.
A police spokeswoman said the man was apparently “upset” and was found leaning on the side of the bridge at about 4pm this afternoon.
Trained officers went to speak to the man, who was about half way across the bridge, and a rolling road block was put in place to slow traffic down.
Eventually the man came away from the edge and is now in the care of family members.
