A MAN suffering from a broken ankle had to be rescued from Orford Ness.

The East of England Ambulance Trust asked for help in rescuing the man at about 1.45pm yesterday. However when the Aldeburgh RNLI inshore lifeboat attended, it was discovered that the man was too badly hurt for evacuation by water so the coastguard organised a landing site for the East Anglian Air Ambulance.

The crew arrived and then took the casualty to Ipswich Hospital.
