Network Rail engineers spent Sunday repairing a landslip at Brantham, south of Ipswich, which had delayed main line rail services since last Tuesday.

There was already engineering work planned in Essex, so the line closure was extended to Ipswich on Sunday at short notice to allow the landslip to be repaired.

Trains are now able to run normally on the Great Eastern main line.

Peter Lensink, Operations Director for Greater Anglia said: “The work to quickly repair the landslip that occurred at Brantham has been an excellent example of our team working in close partnership with Network Rail colleagues to ensure extensive repairs were carried out quickly and efficiently.”

Richard Schofield, Network Rail route managing director said: “The partnership between Network Rail and Greater Anglia demonstrates clearly how our respective teams worked closely to repair the landslip at Brantham quickly, with minimal disruption to passenger services.”
