A judge has cleared a district council of acting unlawfully in its approval of a controversial blueprint for future growth.

The verdict could now pave the way for 2,000 new homes to be built near BT’s Adastral Park, following months of uncertainty and protest which eventually led to the High Court.

Campaign group No Adastral New Town (NANT) said it was “disappointed” with the ruling into Suffolk Coastal District Council’s (SCDC) handling of the core strategy of its Local Development Framework (LDF).

Meanwhile, planning bosses welcomed the news, calling the group’s claims “unfounded”, and made by a small number of people seeking to “undermine the development process”.
