Mums old and new visited the maternity unit at Colchester General Hospital during an open day to see improvements made in a £1.2million project.

A new triage area, second maternity operating theatre and additional birthing pools have been created as part of the scheme.

Dymphna Sexton-Bradshaw, head of midwifery, said: “This project is something we started planning back in October 2012 so it is very gratifying to see it completed. It will make a real difference.”
