Medals stolen from Dedham home after burglary

A collection of medals with "much sentimental value" to the owner have been stolen after a burglary in Dedham, near Colchester.

Burglars broke into a home in Boxhouse Lane sometime between Friday, April 6, and Monday, April 9.

Jewellery, including a diamond engagement ring, brooches and watches were stolen.

A Women’s Voluntary Service medal, engraved with the name Winifred Lockyer, a Second World War medal and three 1930s medals engraved with the name HWM Armstrong for being Eastern, Midlands and Southern counties wrestling champion.

Investigating officer Pc Robert Williams said: “These items hold much sentimental value for the owner and the medals are particularly distinctive.

“I am keen to speak to anyone who has been offered these items for sale or knows of their whereabouts.

“I also want to speak to anyone who saw anybody acting suspiciously in the area between April 6 and April 9.”
