A west Suffolk care home has installed a ‘magic table’ to support residents living with dementia.

Mellish House, in Great Cornard, near Sudbury, has installed a Tovertafel - magic table in Dutch – contains a series of games for people living with mid-to-late stage dementia.

The award-winning table from the Netherlands has been designed to encourage instinctive participation through a fun and safe environment for all residents.

Glenda Davison, activity coordinator at Mellish House, said: “When I read about the Tovertafel, I was blown away with the possibilities it held for our residents. “It was wonderful to see the community come together to raise the money so quickly and make sure that Mellish House remains at the forefront of dementia innovation and care.

“We are thrilled to see how our residents develop with the Tovertafel and continue to live a high quality of life.”

John Ramsay, the CEO of Shift 8 – the company which brought the Tovertafel to the UK – said: “We are delighted that Mellish House have installed the Tovertafel.
