Five people are ‘walking wounded’ after a car hit an electricity pole in Melton, near Woodbridge.

A spokesman for Suffolk police said the accident happened in Wilford Bridge Road at about 2.20pm.

He said a silver Citroën had hit an electricity pole, near a level crossing, and was hanging overhead, but it was not causing any disruption to the crossing or the railway line.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said five casualties were walking wounded with minor injuries, adding one person had been taken to Ipswich Hospital.

One ambulance attended the scene.
