A man in his eighties was helped down a ladder to safety by firefighters after suffering an injury on a boat in dry dock.
The man was lowered from a boat three metres above the ground in Coast Road, Mersea, this afternoon.
Fire crews from Mersea and Colchester were called to the scene just after 4pm.
By 5.30pm the man was safely on the ground and left in the care of an ambulance crew. The nature of his injury is unclear.
