Visitors braved the heat to go to the Mid Suffolk Light Railway’s special event for model train enthusiasts and tractor owners on Sunday.
Displays of Hornby train sets dating back to the 1950s were on show – proving that the tiny trains still have the ability to fascinate youngsters in this day and age.
At lunchtime the visitors were joined by a cavalcade of historic tractors dating from the 1940s to the 1970s – all lovingly restored and maintained by their enthusiast owners.
The Middy is still unable to run steam trains because of the dry weather and fears that sparks from the engine could blow into nearby fields – but visitors did take the opportunity to go for a ride on a diesel-hauled train. The line’s diesel shunter is an historic machine in its own right.
