Organisers say this year’s event will feature more for visitors including a chance to “Catch a Spy”, music and dancing from the Brown Penny Club and 1940s-style singer May Blossom.

The RAF’s Battle of Britain Memorial Flight are hoped to provide a “Hurricane Flypast” on Sunday,. Threre will also be steam rides, refreshments and a barbecue.

A spokesman said: “Railways played an important role in wartime Britain, and the ‘Middy’ was no exception as it not only served local communities but two American air bases.”
