A Suffolk heritage railway line will be stepping back to the Second World War for two days of displays and re-enactments this bank holiday weekend.
The popular “Middy in the War Years” event returns to the Mid Suffolk Light Railway, near Stowmarket, on Sunday and Monday, when military vehicles on show are include a Sherman tank.
Organisers say this year’s event will feature more for visitors including a chance to “Catch a Spy”, music and dancing from the Brown Penny Club and 1940s-style singer May Blossom.
The RAF’s Battle of Britain Memorial Flight are hoped to provide a “Hurricane Flypast” on Sunday,. Threre will also be steam rides, refreshments and a barbecue.
A spokesman said: “Railways played an important role in wartime Britain, and the ‘Middy’ was no exception as it not only served local communities but two American air bases.”
