The star guest at the Mid Suffolk Light Railway on Sunday is a restored example of the line’s Nemesis!

A Dennis Mace lorry has been restored and fitted with an original engine. This is the type of vehicle whose arrival on the post-war scene helped seal the fate of many local rail services like the Middy.

Much of the restoration work on the lorry was carried out by father and son volunteers Julian and Andrew Coy with carpentry by Brian Scott at the Middy’s Carriage & Wagon Works.

The guest of honour at the unveiling ceremony at noon on Sunday will be Mr. Roger Heard OBE, retired Sales Director of Dennis Bus & Fire Engine Co. He will be joined by Alan Russell who leads the Dennis Bus restoration project for the Ipswich Transport Museum.

The Middy will also be visited by the Norwich Vintage Motorcycle Club at lunchtime-ish bringing a fascinating range of ancient and rare machines to Brockford Station forecourt.
