The incident, involving a car and the boy, happened at around 2.55pm on Monday on Monday in Bridge Farm Close, police have said.

Paramedics and police officers attended the scene, and the air ambulance was called shortly afterwards.

The five-year-old was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge for further treatment and a full assessment by doctors.

Initial reports from police stated the boy was in a stable condition but with potentially life-changing injuries and had been airlifted to hospital.

A further assessment by doctors at Addenbrooke's confirmed the injuries to the boy were not serious and a spokesman for the East Anglian Air Ambulance said the boy was taken to hospital by land ambulance.

The road has since re-opened and the driver of the car was not injured in the crash.

The East of England Ambulance Service has been approached for comment.
