Millions of pounds are coming to Suffolk and Essex schools to expand and improve them. Is your school listed?

Around 40 schools in north Essex and Suffolk will receive a slice of a £67million of government money for expansion and repair projects.

The majority of the schools are in Essex - 32, with nine in Suffolk. Details of the exact figures for each school have not yet been published.

Bob Russell, MP for Colchester, said more than £6million would be for eight schools in his town.

Amongst the schools in Suffolk to benefit are Castle Hill Junior School in Ipswich, Hadleigh High School, Alde Valley School in Leiston and Newmarket Academy.

Sir Bob said that Colchester Academy will have structural repairs to the sports centre which is closed because it is in a poor state of repair.

St Helena School will get funds for a roof replacement scheme and fire alarm replacement. Monkwick Junior School will have a failed flat roof replaced. St Teresa’s Catholic Primary School will also have urgent repairs to the roof carried out.

Schools Minister, David Laws MP, confirmed that £367 million will be invested in 2015-16 for 1,089 academies and sixth-form colleges across England.
