MISS EAST Anglia has starred in a documentary about one of the first American-style beauty pageant for children to be held in England.

Joanna Peagram and professional photographer Robert Wong from Clacton have been involved in the one-hour programme called Mini Miss and Little Man with filming lasting several months.

The big night took place in Milton Keynes back in March, where Miss Peagram starred as host and compere of the grand final.

Miss Peagram, of Frinton, said: “I have had the time of my life since winning Miss East Anglia and taking part in the beauty pageants.

“It has made me more confident and a better person - not only do you learn about being a role model, doing charity events and helping those less fortunate, you understand beauty is skin deep and personality is a major factor into getting far in life.

“It has opened many doors for me and I am now using my skills as a presenter and performer in a new light.”

And Mr Wong, who was judge and adjudicator for the evening, said: “I was really nervous being filmed as I have not appeared in front of cameras too often, I am normally the one behind it.

“However, I have enjoyed the experience greatly. Judging was a tough call, all the children tried their best and looked like they enjoyed it.”

The money raised from the event went to the Bliss Babies born too soon charity.

Mini Miss and Little Man is due to be shown on BBC3 on Monday at 9pm.
