DETECTIVES investigating the disappearance of two Ipswich prostitutes yesterday released a CCTV image of one of the women.

Tania Nicol, 19, has not been seen since 10.30pm on October 30, while fellow vice girl Gemma Adams, 25, went missing last Tuesday.

Now police have published a new image of Miss Nicol in a bid to find more clues about her whereabouts.

The footage shows the teenager, of Woolverstone Close, close to the exit of the Sainsbury's garage, in London Road, as she walks in the direction of the town centre. It was recorded at 11.02pm on the night she was last seen.

Detective Chief Inspector John Quinton, who is leading the investigation into Miss Nicol's disappearance, said: “Officers on the enquiry have spent many hours studying CCTV footage - and, with the help of Tania's family, we have been able to establish that this image is of Tania.

“Finding this image is important as we now have a definite indication of where Tania was and when on the night she went missing.

“I hope that, by releasing this image, it might jog the memories of people who were in the area at the time and prompt them to come forward with any information they might have.”

“Tania was wearing quite distinctive clothing, particularly her pink shoes, and there would have been people in the area at that time, either driving past or using the petrol station nearby.”

Officers investigating the disappearance of Miss Nicol and Miss Adams handed out leaflets to football fans at yesterday's East Anglian derby at Portman Road, an area where both women were known to work.

The police helicopter also hovered above the Ipswich red light district on Saturday afternoon as the search continued.

Meanwhile, health professionals have called on vice girls to take extra care when working.

Adrian Kirkby, Suffolk's sexual health and harm reduction manager, urged them to let people know where they are working, to work in groups if possible and avoiding getting into a vehicle with more than one person inside.

He also recommended they tell someone when they are expected to return.

Fears a third prostitute had gone missing were allayed early on Saturday morning. Kerry Samain had not been seen for about a month but was traced soon after police realised she had gone missing.

Miss Nicol is described as having an olive complexion, is about 5ft 2ins tall, of slim build, with shoulder length light brown hair, brown eyes and a spotty complexion.

She was last seen wearing a light-coloured top, mid-blue cut-off jeans and pink high-heeled shoes.

Miss Adams is described as white, 5ft 2in, of slim build with long blonde hair and a spotty complexion.

She was last seen wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and high-heeled shoes.

Anyone with information the women's disappearance should contact Suffolk police on 01473 613500 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
