Children from Bardwell, Gislingham, Palgrave and Old Newton primary schools, along with staff, parents, clergy, friends and diocesan representatives, have marked the first anniversary of the Tilian Partnership Multi Academy Trust.
More than 300 youngsters took part in the event which was held at St Edmundsbury Cathedral, in Bury St Edmunds.
The Rt Rev Dr Mike Harrison, Suffragan Bishop of Dunwich, presided, as each school led the congregation in their individual favourite hymn and presented their chosen Christian value.
Bishop Mike spoke on working together, later mirrored by the comment by Laura Schultheiss, head of school at Old Newton, about the four schools’ aptitude in singing together with one voice.
She said the children had gained confidence from the warm welcome they received from both the Bishop and the other schools.
Kit Wells MBE, chair of governors, read the lesson and the service was followed by a picnic in the Abbey Gardens.
Pupils were really excited by the service and said how much they enjoyed it.
Julia Waters, head of school at Palgrave, said it was a memorable day, and for some of the children their first experience of going into a cathedral.
